SINGLE STAGE COMPRESSORS

Direct Drive Rotary Screw Compressors Built for Continuous Industrial Demand

Single-stage direct drive rotary screw air compressors are built for operations that can’t afford an inconsistent air supply. With no belts, gears, or an intermediate transmission between the motor and airend, there are fewer components to wear, adjust, or replace, and no mechanical losses to eat into efficiency. The output is steady and pulse-free, which matters for downstream equipment and processes that depend on consistent pressure throughout a full production shift.

Direct Drive Rotary Screw Compressors Built for Continuous Industrial Demand

Proudly Supplying Kaishan KRSD Single-Stage Direct Drive Compressors

Canex Technologies is proud to supply Kaishan KRSD single-stage air compressors, engineered for reliable, efficient compressed air in demanding industrial applications.

Compressed air exits at consistent pressure without the pulsation typical of reciprocating designs, ensuring downstream equipment and air tools receive a stable supply throughout the cycle. The Kaishan KRSD’s patented SKK airend keeps internal leakage low and compression efficiency high throughout the unit’s life. It doesn’t just perform well when new, it holds that performance as hours accumulate.

This makes it well-suited to operations that run compressed air continuously across multiple shifts or in environments where pressure fluctuations would affect product quality or process reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a single-stage air compressor?

A single-stage air compressor draws in ambient air and compresses it to the target pressure in one pass through the compression mechanism. In a rotary screw design like the KRSD, meshing helical rotors continuously reduce the volume of trapped air until it reaches discharge pressure.

What is the difference between a single-stage and a two-stage air compressor?

Single-stage compressors compress air to the working pressure in a single step. They cover most industrial applications up to around 150 PSI and are well-suited to facilities with variable or intermittent demand. Two-stage compressors run air through a first stage, intercool it, then compress it again in a second compression stage. This two-step process is more energy efficient at high-pressure output (above 150 PSI) because compressing cooled air requires less work than compressing hot air. For most operations running at 115 to 150 PSI, a single-stage air compressor is the more cost-effective choice.

What are the differences between single-stage rotary screw compressors and single-stage direct drive piston compressors?

Both compress air in a single stage, but the rotary screw compressor uses continuously meshing helical rotors rather than a reciprocating piston-and-crankshaft mechanism. This produces steady, pulse-free output, runs cooler, and handles continuous industrial demand without the wear associated with a piston unit’s constant start-stop cycle. Piston compressors build pressure in a storage tank and shut off, which makes them suitable for light, intermittent use. For continuously operating compressed air systems, the single-stage rotary screw compressor delivers higher efficiency, lower noise, and longer component life.

What are the advantages of a single-stage rotary screw air compressor?

Single-stage rotary screw air compressors, such as the Kaishan KRSD compressor, deliver continuous, pulse-free compressed air at lower operating temperatures than reciprocating designs. Key advantages include:

  • Energy efficient operation: the direct drive eliminates transmission losses, and VSD models reduce power consumption by matching output to actual demand.
  • Lower noise levels: sound-deadening enclosures reduce operating noise compared to reciprocating designs.
  • Reduced maintenance: fewer moving parts compared to belt-driven or gear-driven designs, and 316 stainless steel control tubing resists corrosion over time.
  • Consistent air pressure: continuous rotary action produces steady outlet pressure rather than the pressure spikes associated with reciprocating units.
  • Long service life: With proper maintenance, these units are built to operate reliably for decades.
